Make sure if you got a fasting glucose test at your doctor and they only draw blood once and now are telling you that you are not diabetic but you still are having the symptoms of low blood sugar, you need the fasting glucose test where they make you drink the sweet drink and then check your blood sugar around 4-6 times. It sounds painful and it is but it is worth it to know and get control of it:) I am a wimp I hate needles but I made it through it because I really wanted to know what was wrong with me. Plus it really was not that bad. I am really just a baby:)

  • oh hey, Lack of sleep can seriouly cause some of the same symptoms!!! You really need your sleep, it could be the whole problem no joke!! Oh and I forgot to say how often sorry, it is almost everyday I feel a tiny bit like my sugar is off, I just eat and then I feel fine. Its like I just catch it before it gets bad. So now it does not get bad but maybe once a month or less now.

  • Also I actually had a bad spell today, one of the worst I have had in a while, Not really sure what caused it to be honest. I ate yucky taco bueno and with a water not soda packed full of sugar. but then while I was at the store about 30 min after eating I almost fainted. Seriously I don't know why that happened. But I have got it under control most of the time. But you just have to watch out. Sometimes you never know what your body will do. What are your symptoms?? Tell me more bout you!

  • I have lost my vision twice which was pretty scary. That does not happen much at all. I mean literally only twice in about 6 years. I just sat down and waited for about 15 min or less and it started to come back. So just incase you have it and that ever happens, don't panic. Just sit down and close your eyes and focus on breathing. Hope it does not happen, but just incase and also for anyone else who reads this:)

  • Well basically before I new I had it, I just noticed that certain times during the day I would get confused, make mistakes at work like getting numbers backwards, I could not focus, had mood swings, its a long list of symptoms that why it sounds like you are a hypochondriac . Have you watched my video about the emotional side effects? Thats says a lot. But physically, I would notice my fingers shaking. I get woosy and feel like I might faint. That's when its the worst.

  • Oh, yea, thanks. I got another question. How often did your symptoms occur? Like what happened to you through out the day that made you wonder? Did it happen everyday? Thanks.

  • Sorry I am just responding. My symptoms occurred almost every day. Through out the day I would have times where I just could not concentrate, and felt like I was going to cry, or got a little shaky at times, or just felt like I was having a panic attack. Also I would make several mistakes during the times I did not feel well. It effected my Job performance. I then blacked out a couple times. When you stress out it just gets worse because your body produces more epinephrine.

  • I've had blood sugar regulation problems for about 45 years. For 40 of those years, it went undiagnosed by doctors because of the fasting test. If I were to be given a fasting test today, I'd still show a normal range of <100mg/dL and an A1C = 5.4. Reactive hypoglycemia is a known precursor to type 2. I was diagnosed with type 2 only through the efforts of a friend and some random tests. The symptoms always showed up after eating and never after fasting, but doctors only wanted fasting tests.

  • @mepammy Makes sense to me. A test wherein the symptoms of a disease appear so that it can be diagnosed is certainly to be avoided. After all, if the symptoms never appear for the doctor, then you don't have the disease, do you? It's most likely the insurance companies lobbying with the CDC and FDA not to test, something they've done in the past. It's far less expensive for you to suffer and die than to treat you for a life-long condition.

  • What do you usually eat in a day? B/c I am hypoglycemic and was wondering kind of diet has helped you to control it. You could also do a blog/vlog about it too Thanks! :-)

  • Great info! 30g's of glucose for the test did me in :(. I got all the symptoms so the docs usually don't like to do this test because it induces symptoms. It helped me SO much to know that the hypoglycemia was not just from going too long without eating...but from eating!

  • @blogsoidontforget Well, sometimes, when I wake up too early, I feel lightheaded. But this will go away if I stay sitting in bed for a while until it goes away, because if I try to walk, I would feel really weak. and also its really hot right now, like 90 degrees.

  • @blogsoidontforget nah. that doesn't happen to me everyday. Its probably that I'm stressed in math class. I dont know. But I'm still probably gonna get checked, just to have peace in mind. I need to get to my normal sleeping pattern, since I only got 3 hours of sleep per night for the last week. Its probably that. I hope. Thanks.
