Marty Friedman - Forbidden City

this is probably the best instrumental song by any solo artist in the history of metal. you might not agree with me - i don't care. just look up for this song, and if you don't like the guitars, at least listen closely to deen's drum rolls... it makes me wanna cry every time i listen to the end of this song... deen is AMAZING!

i've been trying to play this song since i started playing guitar without succes. this song is extremely difficult, not to mention that you need endurance to play it all the way through. if i don't get people to subscribe with this video, well, nothing will.

i spent about 3 weeks practicing, and although i made a few mistakes, i am happy with the results.

psychotic waltz (great fucking band from san diego, ca)

forbidden - 'hypnotized by the rhythm' and 'distortion'

@DreamEclipse: part of if was from marty's instructional video, and the other was years of listening to his albums and progressively figuring his stuff out... i would get his instructional videos if i were you.. they're very helpful in understanding his playing... especially his choice of notes

Im totally amazed... you just played it perfectly, and you put the feelings too, thats the most difficult part of playing Marty's songs i think, also i want to be able to play this song one day and the torando of souls solo too, and the Scenes album, jaja.

Please tell me where can i download the 'ym's rising force' book that you talk about.

@franad: thanks for your comment, dude! i would look on ebay, i'm sure you'll find it because there's where i got my copy of it... as far as marty's stuff... get his instructional videos and 'rust in peace' tablature book... that's what i used and little by little i started getting his way of playing... 'scenes' is a really good album to start with because he plays his signature licks at a much slower speed... good luck!

i have to say the beginning and the ending of this song is absolute ownage, i think he should have did something a little different in the middle. im learning the ending of this song since the bends are so amazing lol.

@borizh I am not that skillful to play from ear that song. I was trying from tabs but none of them is the real thing. Can you please do all of us a favour and transcribe the song to guitar pro file :)))...thats too much to ask maybe but the next guy to ask is marty himself it seems :)...As I could not find a video of any body else playing it on you tube.

First of all great cover! I am just thinking...we have all been there,busting our asses trying to play Cacophony,or MF or Becker tunes and when we are done...we are alone.I can never find another guitarist(and/or Drummer/Bassist)nearby that actually wants to try to play these songs live even with some mistakes or minor changes...so stuck with myself I play it over and over again alone...Did anybody experienced the same problem???Are we guitar-addicts alone???
