Peak Moment 110: As a mom of two teenagers, Deborah Lindsay is deeply concerned about their future. As a peak oil educator, she paints a vivid picture of a post-petroleum world, with an emphasis on preparedness. With teens she talks about career choices and practical life skills. With parents, she focuses on safety, economic and energy contraction, and steps to begin now. In 2006 she began the daily talk radio show "Tomorrow Matters - Giving a Voice to a Better Tomorrow" to amplify her message. [www.deborahlindsay.com]

  • She's right this impending crisis is sort of weirdly fun. I haven't been board since since I found out. This crisis gave me the will to become debt free. It gave me the foresight to move my career into public transportation and choose a base that's close enough to bike to (just rode home from work on my electrically assisted bicycle this morning). It's why I got my concealed pistol license and why I'm building a small arsenal of weaponry. It's why I'm storing survival gear and food.

  • I hope it will also motivate you to meet your neighbors and find out how you can work together. We aren't going to survive long as individuals. We need each other to grow and share food and transportation. En masse we can protect our dwellings and each other...but not likely if by ourselves.

  • Please please have a business person , from the corporate business structure, on the show.

NGOs, Hippies, and activists, are not going to make much difference with those that do not relate to them. Business leaders need a good voice they relate to on the show.

Good video for me, but I cannot make dramatic changes like business execs who have no interest in these videos, some might, but try to add in ways to make more money from this. TBL sort of thoughts.

  • Good feedback, thanks. What kinds of businesses do you want to hear from? Take a look at #92 (car share business), #82 (urban development), #59 (natural foods market), #104 (biofuels station), #70 (biodiesel producer), #109 (renewables installer).

  • LOL, actually if humanity cooperated instead of trying to profit off of everything we could easily turn the tide without genocide. The real problem is not the people en masse, it's the way wealthy and priveledged people use thier wealth and how they aquire it that has created the bulk of our environmental problems. If America uses 25% of the world resources yet only accounts for 2.5% of the population you can see just how much greed and conditioned ignorance is the real problem.

  • People are the problem mostly because they think they need to have things to be happy. People--especially American's consume too much. They are not good stewarts of the Earth.

  • What actually is a "Huge" family?

  • No. Other way around. We should begin decreasing the population through education.

Where did you get the idea that I was Pro over population from?

As for the dogs, That doesn't concern me. Our species is in a lot of trouble and no one seems to be doing anything about it. I don't want to sound cold, but I don't even think dogs should take up any of our resources.

And I definitely don't think that someone who has a huge family should be lecturing anyone on energy conservation.

  • So what I hear you saying is that you're "Pro" global over population and "Anti" SPCA adoption.

    deborah

  • Deborah is a hypocrite. She's consuming 3 times more oil than she should be and she's lecturing people on not having children so the planet could be protected.

It sounds to me as if she's asking people not to have children so her family can thrive off the scarce resources with fewer competition.

She seems like a selfish person. I'm sorry to see her on your show.

Any energy efficient measures I take are being negated by her huge family. She shouldn't lecture me. And she has 3 dogs!

  • wtf is this ?...why did i get this video if I was looking for R.E related videos ?.....I have a simple solution.....DONT HAVE BABIES

  • ahhhh, aha, yessss, mmmmm, ooooh, ok

  • Feeding the current populations in Western countries won't be a impossible problems if the governments don't totally fuck up. Also mass immigration and mass transportation of all products from the other side of the PLANET must stop.

  • Sounds like you're making some great head way. But remember, We're only as strong as our neighborhoods are weak... if you have all the survival stuff and everyone around you has nothing... you're going to look awfully tasty. Make sure you take time to get fruit and nut trees planted in your community and work toward community sufficiency.

  • Seems to me Hippies, NGO's and activists have made quite a difference in this world. Womens Suffrage and the ERA come to mind.

  • Ha, With all this talk of rifles and storing food, you'd never guess that I'm a left leaning democrat.
