Sarah Anderson previews her Spin-Off Autumn Retreat 2009 workshop by explaining her unique Navajo plying technique. Her variation on the Navajo-plying or Chain-plying technique is different than many others because all three plies are completely under control and under equal tension when the twist enters them, resulting in a very consistently plied yarn.

I watched your video many times. Tonight I took a bobbin that was a left over single from another yarn. I followed your video many times and in the end found myself with some nice 3 ply yarn that will be something to add into another project for some colorwork. Thanks for the GREAT video that clearly showed how to do this technique. It is now one of my favorites!!
Hi, I was filming Sarah while she did this demonstration. Sarah did have the single under tension. She has her lazy-kate set up on her right side & is feeding the single from there.
I wanted to ask, is the single under tension in this video? Light tension was the "missing link" for me in N-plying. Otherwise the single could really get away from me.
i've seen another person explain her Navajo spinning, but I like this one much better; you aren't just showing you're explaining. I'm not a spinner, rather a crocheter, but I do enjoy learning about the process before it gets to me! Thank you!
Oh my g... I'm finally GETTING it!!! This way of doing it looks very peaceful and smooth.
You really have a knack for visual teaching and I hope to see more spinning vids from you, especially as I live in a country where I have no access to spinning teachers (I think I'm the only one spinning here LOL).
