  • The late Nat Stuckey was a good friend. The day he died I took it hard & took a day off work. I've been to his home many times. I remember one night at the Grand Ole Opry when he sang "Sweet Thang & the people next to me said he had a nerve singing Loretta & Ernest's song. I told them he wrote & recorded it first.

  • Watched Nat perform on the Louisiana Hayride years ago. It was great. Also remember the old Kelly's Truck Stop on I-20 wet of Shreveport.

  • wow! i loved this song when i was a little kis..i never expected to find this! thank God for youtube!:)

  • @rreganjjohnn Hello Johnny, yes they were good old days. My mate Terry Ewers passed over 10 years ago, we got back in touch and and his Wife came to see me a few times. I have been trying to get in touch with Willie Nelson to talk about old times, but unfortunately like most famous people they are very hard to contact. I remember that tour well, good fun. What are you doing these days? if you look me up on the web by typing in Ron Ryan you can send me a private email from my website.

  • I too remember that tour. my band 'The Tumbleweeds' were also there along with Johnny Darrel, Willie and his steel man Jimmy Day and Terry Ewers. great times cheers Johnny Regan

  • I toured with Nat here in the UK back in 1967, he was top of the bill, I was the Compere, and the bottom of the bill was an unknown (over here) Country singer/song-writer called Willie Nelson!! Nat had a great 'laid back' sense of humour, one of the things he loved doing was stopping people and asking them to give him a number between 1 and 10, and what-ever number they said he would say 'wrong' and walk off leaving them scratching their heads, great bloke. Ron Ryan.

  • I had heard of Nat, being a record collector but never heard or appreciated his music until last October when I rec'd an aircheck (recording of a radio station's broadcast). It was from 1972, from Little Rock and he was in the studio promoting his new album. Since then, I have been stuck on Stuckey!

  • i have this vinyl album and its one of my favorites....Nat was a hell of a songwriter

  • I agree. Shortly before Nat died of lung cancer he did a Budweiser commercial. Did you know he also co-wrote "Waitin In Your Welfare Line" with Buck Owens

  • Sweet Thang was also recorded by Jimmy Dean & Dottie West
