  • I really do not like how those slate options blocks the view of some of the instruments and controls. There must be a way of positioning it so to not block anything or do so in a minimal way.

  • I want one!!!!

  • Paul, I love the in flight reviews. It gives context and shows how the device fits in.

  • WingX for iPad can do all of this, including xm weather but requires a external xm receiver to do so. I must say though the 796 interface looks better polished. Interface design is everything when considering use in a cockpit environment but for me it's not worth $2500 and overpriced chart updates. I'll stick with my iPad...

  • OMG, must have.

  • The expense of the 796 is the downfall. Like others have said, the iPad is not ideal for flying but it does really good plus it can be used for many other applications. The 696 is still $2199 at Spruce. That price needs to fall by 40%

  • Why not talk on the ground in a quiet room? Does this shouting against the engine noise help anything?

  • Paul, really nice review, love the way you did this one while flying, I still love my iPad but your review really made it look great. But $2495? With all due respect Garmin, time to get off your wallets. With new Windows 8, it's gonna be a new world. Thank You Paul, good job!
