GUYS. It's a hat. Go look at Brendan's back sprite from Ruby/Sapphire, and you'll CLEARLY see black hair on the back of his head near the nape of his neck. Even his Emerald Sugimori art shows black hair sticking out from under the hat.

Anyway, this song rocks and Ruby is both a badass AND ~fabulous~

What wiki officially claims with solid proof that you need a hat in order to be a pokemon trainer? None. And as for Norman, genetic differences occur on a daily basis, and besides its pokemon, so white hair on a kid would actually make sense.
