THIS IS A DIRTY BLOWER AND FURNACE BLOWER MOTOR, SHOWING THE NEGLECT WHEN A FURNACE FILTER IS NOT CHANGED REGULARLY, EXPLAINING THE PROBLEMS THAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN THE FILTER IS NOT CHANGED ON A REGULAR BASIS.
Not to quibble but it appears from this dirty furnace blower that this furnace was running without any filter for quite some time. But you are right, the filters should be installed and maintained at least twice per year (at the change from heating to cooling) if not more often.
You could have loose joints in the ductwork that potentially could cause you to lose close to 30% of your airflow. If you can reach the majority of your ductwork, as in a crawl space, go in there and seal the joints with foil tape or duct sealing mastic.
Is this from a Lennox furnace? Looks similar to mine. I took the blower out to clean it. Although it wasn't as bad as the one in the video, I did have a good amount of accumulation on the fins of the blade. Purchased the house 3 months ago and the previous owner never changed the filter. Well, after cleaning the whole thing, it runs like new and I get a lot more air flow to the 2nd floor. (unit is on first floor feeding main trunk thats in basement then feeds to all rooms) Great vid!
Cortenice my unit is clean and the same blower as you have here. It does blow cold ,but not very hard. So some rooms in the back of the house are hotter. Home built in 2005 and coils and blower are in great shape as we cleaned them last year. Thoughts?

technically, it's mostly a bad blower WHEEL... although the motor is a little dirty too.

Its easyer to change the filter than taking the blower apart for cleanup
