TVS produced some great shows in its time...Catchphrase, All Clued Up, Concentration, Art Attack, Finders Keepers and The Ruth Rendell Mysteries.

@Delta10666 The difference was was that TVS were a programme producer and broadcaster, but Meridian were a commissioner-broadcaster and commissioned television programmes in a similar vein to Carlton and Channel 4 which never made their own programmes for the network.

@2007TopGearDog there's a really interesting "homemade" (I don't mean this derogatorily) documentary on YouTube about the ITV networks in the south: Southern, TVS and Meridian. Very well put together. It mentions about TVS the company branching out into other things, so they then simply became "TVS Television" hoping people would forget what "TVS" stood for :)

@dmc1200 Right, I'm just not sure that they needed to express that on the ident. Now I understand why they didn't use the 1989 generic ident created for them - it would have added a whole new layer of confusion....ITV...Independent Television...TVS...Television South.....TVS Television....Television South Television...lol....

@indiana1977 As stupid as it sounds, it's because TVS was a group of companies, only one was the TV division.
-
TVS, Television South, Television South Television.....eh???
-
@JokerCapt The border between the TVS and ATV franchise areas, silly! :þ

Now that was a station with some balls. It had its own ID, strong programming, and was great at entertaining us. Where did Meridian loose the plot so badly?

Dantheman's 18th icon...

This was a pathetic logo and jingle compared with the one that preceded it.
Hmm...Television South Television! What were they thinking lol.
