Learn from digital workflow expert and Managing Director of Hdi RAWworks, Neil Smith on the new world of HDSLR filmmaking, post production and delivery. Smith and his team will share their on set experiences of using the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the new Canon EOS 7D on a short film that he created with cinematographer Rodney Charters, ASC (DP on the TV show '24'). • The firmware update will only officially add 24fps mode to the 5D. The video response confirms it (watch the last 15 secs). The menu image is from a 7D showing the various resolutions the other Canon DSLRs offer.

  • Canon please please please give us 720 60p for the 5dMKII

  • are you watching the same video or what NextwaveG i dnt even hear him mention the words 7D or 1D in that last section

  • this has to work! i need 60fps so bad!

  • You're forgetting the T1i. It doesn't have the same frame rates, but it does do video.

In the whole video, he's talking about how great 24p is...and how that's what filmmakers want...and how the 5D will finally have it just like the 7D and 1D MkIV already do. And then he says that the 7D and 1D MkIV also have other frame rates to choose from.

As much as I would love to hear of more frame rates for the 5D...there is nothing in this video that suggests Canon is adding more then 24p to the 5D.

  • That's when he's talking about the 7D and 1D MkIV models. He never says anything other then 24p in direct reference to the 5D.

Believe me, I'd love to see 60 fps on my 5D MkII, but this video doesn't indicate that.

  • It will.

  • At 5:35 hey says "you'll get 720p in 60p fps mode"

  • If you watch the video carefully he says:

"so that (the firmware upgrade) will add the 24 frame rate to the 5D and that will match the other three cameras which do 24, 23.98, 29, and 60i."

All he seems to be talking about is how great 24 fps is and how the firmware upgrade will add 24 fps to the 5D just like the other cameras...which also do other frame rates. He doesn't say anything about adding any other frame rates then 24 to the 5D.

  • 60fps would be so awesome!
