In Nepal, many impoverished families have been forced to sell their daughters to work far from home as bonded servants. Some of these children are as young as six!
Most of these enslaved girls live in horrific conditions. They seldom attend school and have no prospects for a decent future. Many are abused, some are forced into prostitution, and some disappear entirely.
The Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF) brings these girls home to their families, sponsors their education, and gives each girl's family a piglet or goat to reimburse them for the money they would have received for selling their daughter.

This is because of former Hindu Rana government . In Muluki Ain (National Code of Nepal) of 1854 written by J.B Rana with help from Brahmin advisers, the Tharu were made as bonded laborer(Kamaiya). Because of this codification where different ethnic group were classified accordingly, Tharu suffered the worst form of discrimination.
