Turkish anger over French 'genocide' vote

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, says a controversial genocide bill passed by the French parliament is "racist".

The proposed law makes it illegal to deny that the mass killings of Armenians in 1915 constituted genocide.

Turkey says relations between the countries will be seriously affected if French President Nicolas Sarkozy signs it into law.

Al Jazeera's Anita McNaught reports from Turkey's main city, Istanbul.

@HayDavo5 yes, but you have to understand that just because the population of Turks is slightly higher, it does not make it alright to deny what Turkey did to Armenians. Not to mention, that everyone- from Greece, Egypt, Bosnia, Herzegovinia , Serbia, Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Mesopotamia, Palestine, Algeria, Tunisia, Syria and Italian North Africa- all countries HEAVILY and negatively affected by centuries of the Ottoman Empire are 100% behind this law! @Ramzzez The Ottoman Empire surrendered to the allies (Britain,France,Italy,Greece,& Armenia) not the Republic Of Turkiye which was established in 1923 after the war, prior to that it was the Turkish Nationalist Movement led by Kemal Ataturk who disagreed with the agreement & organized the Turkish resistance against (Britain,France,Italy,Greece,A­rmenia,& the Revolt's >) with a decisive Turkish Victory on October 11th, 1922 the allies were ousted entirely from Asia Minor!
