Wire worms in Vancouver City Hall Community Garden, 2010

Last year we were unable to get a single onion plant to grow in our plot... we have researched the problems and have concluded that the wire worms were killing the young plants before they could mature. We had similar mortality with lettuce. The wire worms, we believe, migrated from turf in the bottom of our raised bed. We have been trapping them with potatoes, carrots and traps baited with whole wheat flour..
