This is part of my daily routine. Since doing this needle, I have found out that I have an allergy to these shots. Soon I will be on another type of medication. My doctor has chosen to forgo Tysabri or Novantrone for now, and wants me to test out avonex next, which is once a week into the muscle. I'm already allergic to rebif, so being this is the same chemical, I have my worries.

  • Sorry I called that an interfreron btw. I am now on avonex... next shot I"m going to try to put together a short bit of me surving the shot night... no damage to my skin on this one though thank goodness. I still have spots and itchy areas, even months after stopping the copaxone..yikes.

  • Copaxone is not an interferon. Avonex and Betaseron are.

  • @hernandez3701 That being said, You DO need to pinch up the skin and insert the needle quickly, even at a 45. And, do not wipe with alcohol after the shot. Ow! Also, it's not an interferon and it's not thick like corn syrup. Fwiw, my site reactions on my legs are the same. I think it's because of the lack of fat there.

  • You only inject at 90 degrees with the autoject, Manually is always at a 45. I was taught by a SS nurse and I only inject manually. That being said... there are MANY incorrect things other than that in this video. Yikes! The site reactions are normal for some.

  • you are supposed to inject at a 90 degree angle not slanted like you are doing in that video. They will usually send a nurse to train you or your doctor will give you injection training. Avonex goes in the muscle, you are injecting copaxane wrong. I hope you got training on how to inject avonex since it is a little more difficult since it is int the muscle.

  • @Bulbheadthegreat1 you are supposed to inject at a 90 degree angle.

  • You have not injected correctly and it is no wonder your legs look bad. Did no one teach you? I use a self injector and it stops this problem.

  • @s0815mcbron The speed or injecting or putting the needle in HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT...Its the angle. In needs to be injected deeper.

  • You aren't injecting the drug correctly.

It needs to be injected deeper. Not at an angle...Try that.

  • I'm sorry you have MS and understand your struggles. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh Your supposed to put the needle in alot faster than you did, and you shouldn't touch the injection site after. Also you should put a clean dry cotton swab on the spot and hold it there. And place a cold pack on it afterwards. i have extremely sensitive skin but have nothing like the bumps and bruises you have. I don't think you are doing this correctly. Did you get someone to come show you how to do this?

  • oh god that blows
