  • shouldn't double tapping be better for 2 frames links? if you think about it, double tapping should cover 3 frames. tap, neutral, tap. that way if you start 2 frames before the window to press a button opens up it'll still register. whereas if you plink you're 2 inputs will be too fast. your input will register from 2 frames prior to the link window up to the 2nd, also the last, frame to input the link. so you have a 4 frame window to input a 2 frame link.

  • @somstyle You are exactly right. I actually mention this at the end of the Chapter 9 series. This is why both double tapping and plinking are useful.

  • you say that plinking make a 1-frame link into a 2-frame link ?!? how ? I mean for me plinking is a convenient way of double tapping that's all. It does not modify properties of normals, am i right ?

  • @FishingYann You cannot double tap 1-frame apart, this was intended by Capcom. Plinking is a exploit that allow you to hit the same button 1-frame apart. Thus any 1-frame link has a 2-frame leniency and so on.

  • Amazing tutorial as always, man. Thanks heaps! :D But there's one thing you missed... You actually CAN plink a LP. If you just use the LP button as your initial input and plink even a HK with it, the LP will come out and you will see the LP register twice like the plink format in the inputs display. I main Akuma and I use this plink to use his Ultra with just two inputs. LordOfUltima went over the very same technique in one of his Akuma tutorials.

  • @MagnusGoGo You do see LP register twice, but since HK takes priority over LP the game ignores it. Watch my Chapter 9 Part 1 Tutorial at the beginning.

    You cannot Plink with LP.

  • This should be on a dvd. Im from the UK and everyone I show this to here is amazed, not by the skill level but the fact that without tutorials like these people just wud not find these things out for themselves. Awesome work dude.

  • aw, too bad i didn't know about plinking earlier. pretty much all the 1-frame examples he showed in this video were from trials that gave me a hard time, like rufus'.

i got all those by luck and now i need one more trial!!!

is it possible to plink abel's #24? it's: F+MK, dash, st.HP, M change of direction, focus cancel, F+MK, dash, st.HP

i read that the F+MK, dash, st.HP is a one frame link and there's two in that combo =/

  • In 1:54 ,combo of ryu, you plink the FADC?

  • @VesperArcade well apparently you can with the select/back button, but that is pretty much useless

  • @kiso295785

    Highly doubt it.

Plinking is technically an advanced tactic and pretty much requires an arcade stick. So does pianoing. But don't kid yourself, if your an online player (usually those who just play for fun) then an arcade stick along with these advanced tactics like plinking or option selects are not necessary.

  • Sakura combo was raw.

  • Double-tapping is so hard for me!!!

  • i thought this game was all about button smashing

but after watching this, i know there's a whole function behind smashing 1 button only

btw, thanks for the great lesson, i'm trying to master this and other techniques too

  • plinking is hard as hell to do i havent even got out one in training mode... you make it look so easy!!

  • How can I plink on a Mad Catz fight pad... is it too hard or possible at all???
