FFXI does have a very deep storyline to it that is presented by quests, missions and other misc things you can find on your travels. There are "ultimate" weapons, in a sense. Relic and Mythic weapons specific to different jobs that have stats and enhancements that set them far apart from anything else. PS2,XBOX and PC versions are all the same game. Cross platform.

it's 13$ a month plus an additional dollar per character, if you have xbox 360, you can play it on either SIlver or Gold account
