This is a project that was done for my 118 Communication class (Intro to Interpersonal Communication)
The focus of this project is "How are gender differences in interpersonal communication represented in the media?" I feel the media has a strong influence on how we communicate in day to day interactions. It can shape how we see each other, and because of this it also shapes how we interact. For my presentation, I did a video collage that shows how women and men are shown in the media.
Nice presentation! What I find interesting too in what you provided in this video is the diachronic dimension. When father and son argue about the "Nancy" thing, it is worth noting that the father is very anchored in the stereotypical view of the "housewife woman", and the "man the hunter", and the son is more opened to a new vision of role assignment. As with what Robin Lakoff said in "Language and Woman's Place", what was true in the seventies may be starting to change...

I hope you did well on the assignment; it was a good presentation. The media does influence greatly. If ur still interested in the topic, Edward Bernay's is the 'Father of PR' and his ideas, using his uncle Sigmund's theory of the human psyche, was a major influence in how political and commercial campaigns tapped into ppl's psyche.
Also, i have noticed that violence against men is permitted. Eg, I don't think a man could get a way with shoving a woman like Elaine does on Seinfeld. Cheers
