  • For the record, these appear to be electric boats - batteries and motor with propeller. Did anyone see a solar cell? A solar boat uses solar cells to convert sunlight into electricity to drive the boat. Electric boats are cool too, but after a fast trip they need to be recharged for at least the time they were running, often longer. True solar boats (Sun21) can operate all day on sunlight and only use batteries to store power from the sun, like to run at night. Great video, thanks.

  • They have solar panels on during the endurance races, but take them off for the sprint races. This is a video of just the sprint races. Very observant of you, though. =]
