Bulgarian baritone was born on 10 August 1930 in Pleven, travelled to Sofia to study with Christo Brambarov.
After his debut as Rigoletto with the Ruse Opera in 1956, he continued with that company until 1960. Becoming a member of the Sofia National Opera in 1960, he continued there singing major roles for the next twenty years including many guest appearances on foreign tours including Paris and Belgium. He appeared twice at the Glyndebourne Festival in England, first in 1968 singing the title role in Eugene Onegin and then in 1971 singing Yeletsky in Pique Dame. Additional appearances included most of the Eastern Block countries, Belgium and Barcelona. In addition to singing the major roles of operas in the Slavic language he specialized in many Italian baritone parts including Rigoletto, Renato, Figaro, Rodrigo, di Luna and Germont.
His success was not only on the opera stage but also with concert performances. At the end of his singing career his efforts were directed to training young singers at the State Academy of Music.
