why do the British call a vacation a holiday....??????? Does not the word holiday really mean HOLY-DAY..a religious or memorial day for the dead or such ?????? signed confused.

This sounds like a wonderful holiday... I wish I was at the beach when it was this windy and cold looking, it would have been so much more fun and enjoyable then when I went with my relatives when it was sunny.
