Prodigal by Casting Crowns.

Luke 15:11-32 (New International Version)

The Parable of the Prodigal Son
11Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. 12The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them.

13"Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

17"When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.' 20So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21"The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.[a]'

22"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.

25"Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.'

28"The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!'

31" 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' "

  • i don't know how God puts up with me.That's the marvel of his grace . I constantly fail and let God down and fall back into old habits and i think God must be sick of me asking for forgiveness yet again. But the other night as i was telling God how i just can't seem to change and i keep doing the same old things, i felt this love. its hard to explain, it wasn't like a warm feeling. I just could strongly sense that i was loved. I so love having God as my Father since my dad died.

  • so meaningful!!! :(

  • Yeah. This is.. hm... amazing.

  • @zytigon Nice comment! :-) Christians, Jews, Muslims and Zoroastrians are spiritually lost and spiritually near-death. You at least have a clue. The world would be better off if these crackpot religions had never assaulted our pure, inborn, childlike compassion or spat in the face of mysteries no grammer could ever describe. I look forward to their complete erasure and ruthlessly efficient annihilation by the slow but steady turning of Millenia.

  • @MrMeowmix8 2 Cor 5v17 says people can be made into a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come. If nothing is impossible for God then he would take all to heaven or let them cease to exist. A good God would do all that was necessary to ensure that all enjoyed his company for eternity. If Jesus won the victory then he would be a hero if he saved all humanity but to only pick a minority would be monstrous, how could he forgive himself?

  • @zytigon two words - free will: if we are to be capable of love - which is what this god is, we must have free will, and if we choose to deny God with our free will, how would it really exist if he denied that choice? I don't know about 90% of the human race part of it, i'm not going to be the judge of that. And if there is no hell, there is no place to put evil, even if it were to be just demons, and you claim there is no evil, what's up with the world if it was created as good by a good God?

  • @MrMeowmix8 I think a loving heavenly father would take everyone to heaven; all prodigals. I think a loving Christ would claim all of humanity as his prize. Orthodox doctrine of hell where 90 % of the human race goes to eternal concentration camp is obscene & simply not reality & cannot be part of a God worthy of worship. The doctrine of hell is like slavery: It needs to be discarded. A good God wouldn't damn people for thinking the Bible is fiction?try Robert Price & Tentmaker777

  • @casanovakid55 Hey man, I know where you're coming from, I need reasons to believe, and Christianity doesn't call us to just believe blindly and abandon all reason. There are actually many facts supporting the bible and nonbiblical records of Jesus of Nazareth. I can't put it all into a message, but if you are truly looking for evidence of God and of Jesus, please read "Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. He started writing trying to disprove Jesus factually, but he found proof for Jesus instead

  • @ray35awesome1 God's love is amazing, and it is so incredible that it is impossible to put into words. How else could so many people read the Bible and not catch it somewhere in the 56 books of God's word to us? It's an experience unlike any other and one meant to be treasured forever - until we met him in heaven where we will live in His perfect love for eternity. Praise God!
