Job loss doesn't just affect individuals. It impacts families and even whole communities. Stress, uncertainty, and lost income affect children in various ways.

This video is a Web-exclusive supplement to "Not Just a Paycheck," Episode 7 of "UNNATURAL CAUSES: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?" This ground-breaking documentary series looks at how the social, economic and physical environments in which we are born, live, and work profoundly affect our longevity and health. The series broadcast nationally on PBS in spring 2008, and can be bought on DVD from California Newsreel, www.newsreel.org

  • This is just horrible! I know what they are feeling. I got laid off in late Oct with an uncertain return to work date. It could be next week, it could be never. LUCKILY, I can survive on unemployment and savings for at least 5 months. However, I am still scared. I hate to lose it all.

  • It was wonderful being in on this. The table starts with Don, then Marcella, myself (zzwoody/ Gary J. White) Mitch, and so on.
