  • There's plenty of good fencers in America, unfortunately its a "free you tube" and any self-styled expert can post what they want. I agree, almost everything she demonstrates is wrong.

  • i believe that no one should ever learn fencing via youtube. you need professional training

  • @bobmegee still isn't good. It's not the time you put into it, but the quality. The incorrect details kill the entire video.

  • @antleredzen People define ballestras differently in different schools. But while you're correct, she is landing together, although in a mess. I'm more upset that her ballestra isn't crouched nearly enough. She's essentially standing while she fences. She's also not recovering as she stands back up. Jeeze, always recover correctly, even for demonstration.

  • @Airhead4321 Example: 1:09, her left hand is facing her right wall, easily putting her off balance. She's far too straight. She punches with the blade, without little acceleration. Next, her foot is off angle. It won't let her control her recover. Last, she's tighting her shoulder, losing point control and delicacy. Also, a ballestra without the arm extending first leads to disasterous setups. Emphasizing her ballestra heel strike is fine for demonstration. Other details are bad...

  • Thats not a balestra, that is a jump. With the balestra, the front foot starts and both feet land together. Watch her feet. They definately dont land together.

  • i think shes just doing it like that for demonstration purposes

  • The ballestra is too high and too hard, it should be just a quick and light hop to gain SPEED.

  • I also think, that this is quite helpful. I'm a beginner to foil fencing, and like to watch these videos to better undestand, what I've learnt. It's always interesting to see things in different ways.´

    Thanks a lot!

  • why don't you show us than? even if shes not as good as you'd imagine you can still learn bits and pieces from other people. I actually find this to be pretty useful.
