http://www.opamerica.com Presenting a vintage wind-up tin toy named Mechanical Donkey Cart w/ Rider. Made by Marx in the 1950's. This toy is in great shape! Some very light scuffs on the litho on the left side of the wagon. Marked by the donkey's leg with the Marx logo. The toy easily wound and moved forward. Includes the original box! The box has some taped edges and water stains but is still in good shape.
Measures 10" inches long and 7" inches tall with the rider.
The book Greenberg's Guide to Marx Toys Volume I has the following write-up about this toy: "Late 1940's or early 1950's. 10 1/4" long. The Donkey Cart toy has two donkeys identical to the mule of the Balky Mule toy. The donkeys pull a different cart with the same Bulky Mule driver. The driver is perched on the edge of the cart with a metal piece through his legs which fits into a slot of the wagon, allowing the figure to be removed. The figure is therefore sometimes missing from the toy today. Very small Marx logos are printed on the underside of the donkeys. The donkey cart has curved sides which have a woodgrained pattern on the exterior. Three barrels are lithographed on each side of the cart and a container of oats is pictured on one side. A lithographed rope ties the barrels together, adding to the three-dimensional effect of the lithography. Tankards are lithographed on the front and back of the cart. The windup mechanism is between the wheels, and the key is underneath the toy. Illustrations on Marx boxes occasionally differ from the actual toy. The box shows a decorative designs with hearts and a bag on the side of the cart. The box also has instructions for fastening the driver to the cart."
WOW, you have got some collection! My sister and I collect too. In fact we collected so many that we couldn't display any more in our homes so we just opened a vintage toy shop in downtown Bethel, CT. The MARX toys have got to be our favorites.

Thank you for the kind comments! Most of the toys and banks belong to a high-end collector in Maine. He lets me list them in my ebay store; use the ebay seller search name Opamerica to see the rest. Are you on ebay? I'm always interested in featuring more toys in my store. Thanks again for your comments!
