First, it's rectus femoris, not rectus anterior. Second, how you tape has an impact on the result. In the video above, he's taping the knee to increase proprioception via mechanoreceptor stimulation in the skin. Basically increasing neuromuscular control in the area. You can tape to PREVENT motion, however, and that would be done with the tape at maximum tension. The effects of taping are old news guys.. read a few research papers :)

Read a few papers on pubmed. This really works. We use it in our Hospitals for about 1 1/2 years now with good results.

S C A M - quack quack quack. From the website: "(Kinesio) Tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas." Has to be the silliest thing I've ever read! "Increasing interstitial space"??? HAHAHAHA! When will we stop believing anything anyone says? Have we become this desperate and willingly stupid?

Increase proprioception? Haha... The only way to increase neuromuscular control is through supervised and diligent PT. Sorry but anyone who believes in this "miracle tape" should have their head examined by a medical professional. Not some guy in a YMCA selling colorful tape for $25 a roll. Come on

i think it more of a decoration than function... kinesiotape is more of a fashion than fuction... its all about money and lies...

@DrBjamin Interesting. I think what you explain is what we tried in ergonomics class too. We were taped across the back to be able to feel if we made any inappropriate movents in the spine during patient turn-overs etc.
