I don't get it, ever since Christopher regerated, everything uses that regeneration, the master, her, and when the doctor died, he was doing the fire thing but then he died...

@StickMarsChannel i know what you mean, i think they've stuck with the effect now to show that it's the same process and that all time lords do it the same way. howeaver the master's regeneration was slightly different- the light was a different colour...

@StickMarsChannel There's probably never going to be a canon explaination for that. The real world explaination is that now they have more money to play with.

The same thing happened in Star Trek with the transformation in Klingons looking like Puerto Ricans with long moustaches in the original series to heavy metal goths with spikey head ridges in the movies.
