Yeah, I stopped by LAFD Station 9 (by accident) in Nov and spoke to some of the guys. Thats pretty much what they said too. One of them said that probably in 2013 theyre going to have to hire 500-600 people. No way around it. We'll see.

@misfitfirefighter13 LAFD got the axe pretty hard too. We had "Rolling Brown Outs" with alternating station closures and now we have "Black Outs" where we had to close a lot of companies down for good or until further notice

Budget cuts in the city are affecting the FD operations pretty hard. Im not with BCFD but I understand that there are rotating station closures on a daily basis and I think a few more companies have been permanently disbanded.
