  • Actually, the truth is much more mundane. It was basically just a ditty about being "homesick". The "rock star party" was really just The Who and the James Gang having a cookout at promoter Mike Belkin's house in the Cleveland suburb of Chagrin Falls, and Pete just had a really nice time. I had the priviledge of seeing some of the photos from that day many years ago, and it is really weird to see Roger wearing his concert fringed buckskin out in the country sunshine!

  • F'n AWESOME!!!!

  • @koenan1

Pete alone in a hotel room somewhere in Middle america is quite good enough for me, thanks.

  • The story goes...Pete was at a Sheraton Gibson hotel in Pittsburg or Philly when he wrote this song. The who had just performed in cleveland the night before, and had partied like rockstars with the James Gang people. The party was so memorable for Pete he put it down in verse.

When the spotlights are switched off and the cheering crowds have quieted, it's just Pete alone in a hotel room somewhere in Middle America.

  • nice job fellas... now if i can make sense about all this talk about cleveland.

  • Pretty cool!
