I was very offended by this commercial..to think we live in a world where huge corporations can still insult the rich black culture and get away with it.

  • Maybe I'm a little slow, but Kool-Aid playing Basketball doesn't really look racist to me.

And yeah, I know it's all black people in the commercial.

  • @TheSurefireGamer , the problem is that for some racist people, a commercial featuring Black males and kool-aid combines the racist meme that "White man can't jump-meaning that all Black males come by their skill for playing basketball naturally, and all Black people are poor-since "Kool-Aid is the poor person's soda" as someone wrote on this comment page. Check out my blog post Pancocojams The Stereotype Of African Americans & Kool-Aid. Thanks

  • @Shotosboring1stpick, I think other reasons might be Kool Aid's considerably good (for those days) record of producing and marketing quality and non-stereotypical ads to Black communities & buying ad time on very popular shows such as Soul Train. Google Pancocojams The Stereotype Of African Americans & Kool-Aid for more comments & 5 vintage Kool Aid ads. But I think that given racism, an ad with Black people, basketball & koolaid together was a bad marketing choice.

  • @MrJezzV

Well Kool-Aid was considered the poor man's soda.

  • i can't understand, why this is racist

  • There's racist ads and then there is simply appealing to the target consumer.

  • ha

  • @can06 hmm... that statement is pretty racist....

  • @iTzMaDToWN you mean purple drink.
