Live Webcast: ROBOTIC PROSTATECTOMY

Surgeons specializing in the da Vinci® Surgical System at Morristown Memorial Hospital, part of Atlantic Health, will perform a robotic prostatectomy live. The hour-long broadcast will air at 2 p.m. EST on Friday, February 2. Those who log on to view the live broadcast also will have the opportunity to ask the physicians questions during the surgery.

The urology team at Morristown Memorial has completed more than 100 robotic prostatectomies since acquiring the technology in March 2005. The surgery is performed on patients diagnosed with prostate cancer who require removal of the prostate.

"Patients have seen significant benefits using this technique," said Lee Pressler, MD, a surgeon who will perform the procedure during the broadcast. "Patients have experienced less scarring, quicker recovery time, less blood loss, less pain and a quicker return to their normal activities and sexual function."
