Our protest count was 16 consisting mostly of our core group. This time around, we were extremely aggressive with posters. A couple of anons decided to put up anti-scientology poster all around downtown near the org. Inevitably they would take them down, so the very least we can do is make it difficult for them, as finding 80 posters scattered everywhere is sure to consume their time and money and stop recruiting people into the cult. One of us fellow anons (Clavietika) dressed up as a Silent Hill nurse. The weather was great for this time of year; the past two weeks have been cold (10 degrees Celsius cold), but today it was 17 degrees with some wind.
I brought Halloween candy, which was handed out with flyers, and many people were supportive of us. A few people approached me in what we were protesting about, to which I explained we're protesting Scientology as an organization and not attacking beliefs. After explaining how we believe religions should be free and religions should not break up families, one gentleman wanted to know more. Once I told him about Fair Game, he still wanted to hear more, and so I told him about the largest case of infiltration of the U.S. government and he said "so there really is more to this?" and encouraged him to visit the website youfoundthecard.com.
A bunch of girls who looked 12-18 approached us also inquiring information about what we're protesting about ... and myself and anon_0 notice those same girls were found in the org moments later, likely asking questions in getting their side of things. Didn't know the aftermath of that, though ... with any luck it might be similar to the case where a man in New York questioned the org to hear the other side only to get brushed off.
As Pacifist said, the wind blew away anon_0's hat and it came onto the road. This was a funny thing because earlier police officers walked by and all they asked was that we stay off the street during our protest. The hat blows to the middle of the street and stops, while cars start narrowly missing crushing the hat (it was positioned between the wheels). Once the roads were clear, Pacifist runs to the street and saves anon_0's hat like the hero he is.
A woman who was advertising a band playing in Winnipeg (possibly a local band) approached us, and wanted to take a picture of myself and Pacifist holding up a poster she was putting up; I got a chuckle out of that one. I wanted to give her a flyer, and she said she'll accept one but already knows about the cult. Now that we had a megaphone to use again, Clavietika read out a speech (video to come). Scilons, as always, were not aggressive, and no mysterious photographers appeared. Whether that means they are a dying org or want to avoid footbullets remains to be known, but the supportive honks and cheers tell me there are a good number aware of this cult.
That dude in the suit looks hella stylish, rescuing that fine femanon's hat.
