the original testing versions were just that TESTING. when you have a new technology such as the OSPREY, they are writing the manual on everything, HOW TO FLY, how to maintain, manuvering etc. although i am sure things were thought out in advance, it does look like some things were missed. I am sorry for all of the loss of life during the testing phases of the osprey program, but those deaths are not in vain, they have a wonderful platform to do their thing now.

Yea, the Osprey's you usually see crashing are the original version. The newer version of the Osprey actually has a very impressive safety record.

these are newer and better ospreys.
the original R&D managers where kicked out and replaced by more safety minded managers.
te result is a newer safer guidelines for osprey flight and development.
