In Davao you can randomly find coconuts around being sold by the same guys that sell it the juice mixed with milk and sugar, they usually have the whole ones.
I drink 2 or 3 per day as my water if not very active, more if active....i prefer coconut water for sure.
I found this guy to be very helpful and knows how to pick the really ones i like (not sweet like Thai cocos unless you go to the villages). ....
even if you bring your own big container he will fill it up with several coconuts for you....each coconut is about 15pesos ($35cents)...then you can take back to your hotel and put in refrigerator....give him 10-20peso tip each time pls and/or fruit, i brought him durian once, no english though..
directions:
from facing magsaysay park, head right (towards ecoland, SM, timesbeach) approx 1 mile, turn right on a major road that has two lanes in each direction, take your first left, go about 1 and 1/2 blocks, he is on the right side, look closely go slowly.....and tell your taxi driver you are looking for BOKUs (coconuts)... I walked there alot taking the back roads, i love walking the city's but i pay the price on air quality, but i cant resist, its sooo entertaining.
