This song is about Ireland and the dream of going to America. Something that is very relevant even today. Sad eyes, crooked crosses. It's all we've ever known.

Wow. I never had any idea what this song was about. I've been a U2 fan since 1987 when I first discovered their music. I've listened to this song a thousand times and never knew what it was about. Now it has new meaning to me thanks to you.
