Lenox Hill Hospital DRINK SMART Poetry Slam: Thomas (Poem 2)

Excessive drinking is a serious problem that can affect all aspects of a person's life. Young adults engaging in binge drinking, defined as 5 or more drinks on one occasion, may have poor school outcomes, often engage in risky sexual behavior and are more likely to drive while under the influence or get in to a car with a driver who is under the influence. To raise awareness about this issue Lenox Hill Hospital hosted a poetry competition in the fall of 2010, inviting poets from across the city to share their experiences with unsafe drinking. Here is one of the winning poems.
