To jump on the band wagon, I thought I'd share my 1911s as Pete over at the Armory Channel and Hickock .45 did today to kick off the new year. No cool vid, dialogue, or soundtrack, just letting these babies speak for themselves.

Just a little show and show vid. Most of you have seen my 1911s, but this time I threw one in that I have never featured before. The Colt was bought in the 1960s, by my grandfather's sister's husband. The original bill of sale still resides with the pistol which was purchased on 6 March 1963 for $125. The bluing on that pistol is absolutely amazing, and can be seen in the pictures. The grips on the Colt are made of oak (I think that's what I made them out of), with a red stain on them and a polycrylic clear coat over that.

My very first pistol ever was my Springfield Armory 1911. It's a Mil-Spec version, with adjustable sights for windage and elevation. I had some trigger work done to it a while back with some Cylinder and Slide parts I bought. They weren't cheap, but after the pistolsmith fit them in, it's got a beautiful 3.5 pound pull that is very crisp. The 'smith even parkerized the hammer for me, as it was in the white, and touched up a couple other spots on the pistol.

And my Kimber, well I love that thing like it were, or I mean, is my only child. I can't say enough about that pistol, and how accurate it is. It's not saying much, but at about 10 yards, I can shoot one shot, then put the rest touching the first. So I know the gun shoots. If I miss something, it was my fault. One of these days I'm going to switch the grips back. I had a Para Ordnance P12 that I liked, and shot quite well. The hi-cap frame though kinda wasn't the greatest for CC. So I traded the Para towards this Kimber, and was fortunate enough to be given half the value of the Kimber, so I paid the difference. Boy am I glad I did. This Kimber has lived up to expectations and then some. I really do like the night sights on this particular model. It has a steel frame.
