omg that was soooooo long ago thanks for replying but i found out a week after posting that. i know everything in blender now...actually its boring to me now lol...thanks anyways :)

You don't. It's rendered, which takes a long time.

i like this.. one small constructive critisizm is to stack the diamonds more uneven so it looks messier therefore more realistic. Also speed it up.

kewl

There are tons of settings to play with to make it look more realistic. Blender rocks.
-
wow rendering must have taken 2 days or something! lol nice!

Very nice, but many look black. You should have set the Raydepth parameter higher (the ones that pass trough the ground are nice and clear). How long did it take to render, by the way?

I took raydepth down to improve the speed but I realize now that was a mistake. there are a lot of mistakes; the meshes aren't real cuts of diamonds, I think my IOR was too low, I enabled "jitter" without knowing it would move the dispersion caustics around, I moved the base after the physics bake so they go through the ground, etc... It only took about two and half hours to render with 16OSA and 24AA... I have a quad AMD opteron workstation. still pretty new to blender
