THE INFINITE SONG (Abridged due to time constraints)

Song I wrote for a class a while back, thought I'd finally get it online! For math nerds and friends. :)

Lyrics:

I remember when I was a kid sitting on the playground
Everyone was bragging about how high they can count
Thinking I was really smart, I said, "I can count to infinity!"
But some silly boy thought he had me beat.
He said, "I can count to infinity plus one!"

I got older and learned all about cardinality and set theory
I tracked that boy down, and told him all about how:

You match Omega to zero
And zero to one
And one to two
And two to three
And keep this pattern going on and on
Infinity's cardinality is just as big
As infinity plus one

Then one day I got a job working at a hotel
Which contains an infinite number of rooms
One day an infinite number of guests arrived
And filled the whole hotel
And later just one more guest arrived
The employees all panicked, we couldn't turn him away
But I knew just how to make some space"

We put the guest in room one into room two
And guest two to three
And three to four
And kept this pattern going on and on
And so the hotel infinity accommodates
Infinity plus one.

I got off work and met up with some guy named Zeno
Who thought he had the whole world figured out
He told me it was impossible to walk across the room
He said:

"To walk across the room you have to walk half way first,
And to walk half way you have to walk half that distance
And keep dividing half by half by half
And forever on infinitely
So you see it's an impossibility!"

So I tested his theory and I walked across the room...
And discovered a paradox!

Oh I've discovered a world full of impossible things
In a universe that might be made out of strings
Alternatively -- M Theory
There may be an infinite number of universes
Which implicates the infinite replication paradox
Meaning an infinite number of versions of you and me
Which makes me wonder if I should even worry about morality!
And in a parallel universe, this song is in a minor key

In a parallel universe I'm still a kid on the playground

But this version of me has got him beat
She says, " I can count to infinity plus one."
