The world needs to hear YOUR SONG -
Jake wrote to me and said, "I wrote this after my granddaddy passed away. I had in mind a country twist on the music, but I want it to be more upbeat."
It was awesome writing this song with Jake. He has such a great heart and I felt like I knew his Grand Daddy from the words in this song. Jake, I'm truly honored and humbled that you would let me take hold of this fragile part of your life and embrace it as my own! Love you man -MT
Knelt on the ground, with a wrench in my hand
I was on top of the world, as I worked with this man.
This old Ford Tractor, had seen better days,
As it taught the lesson, of work before play.
Knelt on the ground with a rod in my hand
I was on top of the world, as I fished with this man.
This tangled line, had seen better days,
But it taught me the lesson of work and then play.
He was so big, I was so small
He was my hero, he could do it all
Down on his knees he stood so tall
Tall like the trees that shade us all
Cool like the breeze on a summer day
Down on his knees he led the way
Out of all the lessons he taught me
The greatest lesson to me was down on his knees
On the day, I brought our baby girl home
Grand daddy came over but couldn't stay long
I went to the window to watch him leave
He went down our front steps on his hands and his knees
Tears ran down my face, as I thought about life's change
The way he went down those steps, was the same way he came
Nothing could stop this man from being with his family
One more time he taught me
Yeah taught me a lesson
As I walked through my front door that day
I knew the look on my wife's face that life was not the same
So I remembered what Grand daddy taught me
As the silence brought me
Down on my knees I stand so tall
Tall like the trees that shade us all
Cool like the breeze on a summer day
Down on my knees I will lead the way
