With a thunderstorm watch still in effect, Cannon County High School Graduation took place Friday night at 7 on the football field.with perfect weather.
Quick clips, somber but with lots of humor, as evidenced by the valedictorian and the salutatorian speeches, both contained many class memories.
Sara Bowman, salutatorian, gave an excellent speech reminiscent of Dr. Seuss nearly all in rhyme, and Sabrina Gomar who had top favorites.
Principal Tim Knox presented scholarship recipients to the crowd, stating that the group received $954,000 total.
Assistant Principal Bonnie Patterson read each graduates' name and diplomas were presented by Director of Schools Barbara Parker along with Principal Knox.
Beach balls flew over the group and one even found it's way under Clayton Nile Young's graduation gown, causing Ms. Patterson to present him as Clayton "I'm not expecting" Nile Young, at which point he threw the beach ball back into the crowd.
Even an alien made an appearance.
At the prompting of Ms. Patterson, the group moved their tassels to the right side, signifying the beginning of a new path in their life.
Traffic was heavy and it took quite a time for everyone to disburse, even though the Woodbury Police Department aptly assisted.
Leaving music was played for the crowd courtesy of CCHS band members.
