Some people may find cut up their kitchen scraps tedious. For them I recommend saving them until you mow your lawn next and then cut them up that way with the lawn mower.
I do this will all yard and kitchen waste that I have. Whatever does not look like it will decompose in a few days I pick up and put in the compost bin. It reduces the amount of waste that I store and mixes it all evenly ... and it makes it a little more fun.
