Just so you expert know all of the nyc metro fire depts us straight steam tips and NOBODY sees more fire then FDNY and Long Island fire so if it works for us it works for columbus
@mrgoodnight2471 Yeah there's alot of departments that are like that, they want to do it "old school" they're not wanting to adapt to the new technology and advanced era. Some of the things i agree with, but then you have some depts that wants to hide behind safety all the time.. Sorry but firefighting isn't necessarily a "safe" profession. It's unpredictable, no two scenes are alike, that's when training, education, and experience comes in handy.
@xlxjus10xlx ...columbus fire are a bunch of kinfolks that don't know how 2 fight fires......they do shit like mulberry fire dept on andy griffin.....nobody really knows what 2 do and when they have some1 who does they run them off...i should know...been there /done that...the few good folks never get promoted or they have a time getting rank...but the kinfolks and the click rise up the ladder like clockwork...
My opinion if i was on that nozzle, i wouldn't b using a straight stream to try and knock it down, usually the only time i use a straight stream is after it's knocked down, and doing salavage and overhaul and hittting hot spots, where the straight stream can penetrate down inside, on actual firefighting i prefer using more of a power cone, outside tighten the pattern in just a little bit.. but not to a full straight, give you more area covered.
