The time has arrived. ATI's X2 finaly gets some competition!
This is indeed the upcoming GeForce GTX 295, which is a GX2 like dual card based on two 55nm GTX 260 chips.
Yet they are different, as each chip features 240 shader units, making it a total of 480 shaders.

This monsters packs quiet a punch as well. The benchmakrs speak for themselves, the X2's days as champ are numbered...

All specs are listed in the video.

The card reaches a 223.8GB/s bandwidth, maximum power consumption is 289 Watt.
Quad SLI will be supported once again. (I recommend the Corsair 1000W PSU)

It featueres two DVI and a HDMI output just like the 9800GX2. PCIe 2.0 of course is a standard as well as a 6 and 8 pin connector which is required to feed this monster.

Release date should be shortly after CES 09. Theres also a new 55nm based GTX 285 coming out at that time and a new 55nm GTX 260 which will be sold as a normal GTX 260 without further marketing of the new manufactoring process though.

If theres any news about this card, I will post them here.

UPDATE:

The GTX295 has just been tested in Quad SLI along with a Core i7 Extreme CPU, clocked at 3.6 Ghz.
It scored over 32,500 points in 3D Mark Vantage.

Thanks for watching !
