Toronto Street Cars Need To Go Too Many Death and Accidents

In September 1861 Street Cars were introduced to the city of Toronto to move with the new ages of time and to eliminate the horse and carriage. After many years of great use the TTC decided to put the street cars in the history book and again move with the new times and technology. The street cars were supposed to run their last route in 1980 and move all routes to TTC Buses. What happened to that is beyond me. Street Cars need to go. They are as obsolete as the horse and buggy. There are 3 main reason we should get rid of them now. Number one. Traffic traffic traffic, they cause so many traffic jams and backups it is insane. Number two. Street cars not only use up one driving lane. They use up all lanes of traffic. They can't move to the far right lane like the buses. Instead they cause major traffic. Now my third and most important reason on why the street cars need to be put in the history books is death and accidents causing death. Every year people die because of street cars how many deaths need to happen before they our city wakes up?

@teesmiff have you ever driven behind a streetcar..... every streetcar road is hogged up with traffic behind it and every car trys to fly around it.

I know the argument people who live in Toronto do not drive, B.S argument the city is getting more and more congested every year. Rob ford is right we need to put these people underground to ease up surface routes. Imagine if we built one station every 2 years since the 50's... we would have a proper system by now.

Streetcars are a great way of public transportation, my favourite in cities. They can take much more people per lane than it would be possible by cars. (the capacity of 10 car lanes in one streetcar lane). In Budapest lines 4 and 6 take more than 200000 passengers a day. That would be completely impossible by cars and less comfortable, much more expensive and polluting by buses.
