  • A friend of mine was on Santa Catalina Island(an island off the coast of Southern California)one night. He and a friend stopped at a bar but it was closed. As they stood there momentarily looking in the window, a man comes walking by and asks them if they wanted a drink. They say yes and with that the man picks up a trash can, throws it through the front window, climbs through into the bar and starts pouring drinks. Cops come, call the owner(who knew Marvin) who tells the cops that it's OK.

  • Thats a great story,,,Thanx

  • @penumbra155 check out whyquit dot com and read as many of the articles as you can. I've been quit for 6 months, and every time I get a strong urge (which happens less and less), I just get on there and read. It's a great resource.

  • Interesting. "filtered by fine tobacco" and "you can light either end" - are marketing arguments against filter cigs. non filters lost or was that the smokers who lost?

  • @caching60098 Emphysema, if you want the authentic spelling.

  • This used to be my brand, but because of the price increases...

However, if they are good enough for Lee Marvin (my favorite actor, by the way), then they are good enough for me.

  • One other thing about smoking... I was never a cigarette smoker but I smoked cigars (maybe two a week) for 15 years. Last month I went into the ER for a suspected pulmonary embolism (turned out to be nothing). My room mate smoked for 50 years and was dying of lung cancer. Laying in a bed beside someone who is dying of lung cancer will definitely motivate you to quit smoking. It's only been 29 days since my last smoke, so its too early to claim victory, but I think I'll make it.

  • Pall Mall smooth???? Those things are about as "smooth" as smoking sandpaper! My father smoked them for 40 years (two packs a day) and in the end, emphysema did him in (although I suppose it could be argued that smoking two packs of anything for 40 years will do you in).

  • Unfortunately, the cigs did him! Emphesitia (sic) killed him. Should of least stuck with filtered cigs....

  • My mother was a three packer a day. She finally stop the day they slam the lid on her.

  • RIP Lee Marvin

  • @TheOrleansLasVegas that is how your supposed to say it, but i wouldnt wanna be the guy to correct Lee Marvin, he'd rip off my head and replace his speed bag with it
