Fable 2 - Part 30 - Cold Comfort Farmer

Now as many know, at this point your hero has a choice. Do the Cold Comfort Farmer quest, where the player saves Giles and his farm from Ripper and his crew, Red Harvest where the player helps Ripper kill Giles and his posse, or nothing where the player simply lets it go.

Doing nothing yields the same results as doing the Red Harvest quest but with fewer benefits (evil and corruption points).

The Red Harvest quest is the middle ground - do it like any other quest. This though is also the evil option.

The last option, the Cold Comfort Farmer quest (which I chose to do), unlocks a second quest after The Spire, and is the good option.

Hey I can't find this guy, I went to the shack and knocked but there was no one there. I didn't even do the spire quest or anything yet. I did accept the Red Harvest quest though but i havne't spoken to the bandits yet. So am I screwed or does he just wander off every now and then?

@LeeroyFan101 Reload the area (fast travel somewhere and back). If he doesn't reappear, you're stuck with red harvest or the spire unless you restart your entire game, which is, incidentally, the way the developers intended it.

I did the bad choice and my guy is like a demon. wtf. I didnt know it was gonna make it this bad

@sidbse That's just what you're supposed to do. Just go to the spire now. When you come back from the spire you should have a quest called 'Blind Date'. Do that quest and Giles will allow you to buy the farm, and at that point you should have the key to the cellar.

@sidbse When you come back there should either be a grave or a bigger farm, depending on the quest you completed. I'm hoping that's the case at least, because otherwise I'd just say it's an unfixable glitch, as is very often the case. Try reloading the area and finding Ripper/Giles first, or setting the golden trail to Cold Comfort Farmer or Red Harvest in your quest menu before you go to the spire though, just in case.

@sidbse I believe you end up getting the key from the quest giver after you complete the quest giver's specific quest. The quest giver is Giles or Ripper if you did Cold Comfort Farmer or Red Harvest respectively. I don't know which quest you completed because you said you killed both of them. NPCs respawn in this game after you reload the area typically. Now what I would suggest, based on what you just told me, is to go to the spire and come back.

@sidbse You either get the key from Giles or you get it from Ripper. If you killed Giles as well as Ripper (or his men) I'd assume you cannot get the key, or, depending on which quest was counted as completed, you'll get they key from a respawned Giles or Ripper. You also may want to make sure you still have your dog - maybe they key will be in Giles' grave.

I chose the one where I killed farmer Giles. x.x I never meant to do the evil one so half way through i started killing the bandits. >_> My bad.
