Buddy Spicher Interview

Buddy Spicher is a Nashville legend. He joined the WWVA Jamboree, in Wheeling, West Virginia in the 50's and shortly thereafter came to Nashville to work with Hank Williams Jr. Buddy has played on the road with Hank Snow, Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Ray Price, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn and Chrystal Gayle. In the 60's he became a studio musician, forming Area Code 615, consisting of top studio musicians winning a Grammy for their efforts. In the past, Buddy has worked on television and in the studio with such names as Elvis Presley, Lucille Ball, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Henry Mancini and Dolly Parton. Buddy's numerous album releases include American Sampler, Me and My Heros, Buddies, Supercord and the Neophonic String Band and The Great American Fiddle Collection. All in all, Buddy has participated in over 3,000 recordings.

Texas Dance Band was Buddy's band and they traveled the South in the early 90's becoming a great western swing band. Longing for the jazz and swing to combine, Buddy started the Nashville Swing Band. The band went on to record 12 albums with some of the biggest names in country music and swing.

Much sought after as a teacher, Buddy has been a master teacher at fiddle camps, seminars, colleges and at The Fiddle House.
