We start this film with a brief stop at Paddock Wood to see 70013 Oliver Cromwell BR 7MT "Britannia" Class, race through the station en route from Waterloo to Folkestone Harbour, for three runs along the 1 in 30 branch line. Apart from the number 72 to Cheriton getting in the way, all went well. On the the second run up the branch look out for the women at the level crossing being dragged away by her two terrified dogs. The future of the line is still very much in doubt, although it seems the line will now be mothballed. The "Remembrance Line Association" has been set up to try and save the line. • Wonderfull video,, and what a tramendus location, with the line runnining up through the town,, thats how a steam loco should be seen,, working hard up a gradient, shame it all seems in doubt,, cracking video ,, well done

  • Nice video, but it needs deinterlacing

  • What a fantastic sight and sound. Especially that final departure. If this does indeed prove to be the final train on the branch then what a way to bow out! Just one question - in these health and safery obsessed days, how did the young lad end up on the footplate?

  • Great stuff traindriver -can we put this on our website,

  • That last departure sent shivers up my spine!

  • Fantastic shots of a superb engine,in a ecellent setting,with some great viewpoints,felt like i was there myself,well done

  • Brilliant video.. Typical example of a Stagecoach bus driver though.. selfish company which has blighted the whole country with it's awful red white blue & orange and crap service. Lovely to see Ollie Cromwell running. That was my first ever Hornby steam engine too way back in the 60s.

  • i was at paddock wood! did u see me? i was the boy with the tripod!! and where you the guy told to stand back other drivers will moan? awsome video

  • Thanks for a great reminder of the day with this video, was on the train and this is a fantastic souvenir of it all.

  • Fantastic video James. Well done for capturing what was a momentous day from so many angles. It was nice to meet you after the final departure. It's always good to put a face to the names on here.
