Skinny Man In a Yellow Tie (A LibDem Cleggmania Anthem) by Ben Glasstone
My faith in politics was getting kinda wobbly
Thinking Is there no alternative to this dark duopoly?
Democracy had lost its currency , was just a focus for derision
But though it may seem strange that all changed when they put it on television
For standing there were 3 white men
(Id expected 2)
Telling us what was wrong with this country and what they planned to do
One had a pretty baby face but his policies were horrid
Not what Id call highbrow though hes got a lotta forehead
The other guy was too severe, all heavy-set and rugged
Saying basically just vote for me or your economy is buggered
But one man stood apart from them as he stepped up to the plate
And this simple guy made feel like I aint felt since 68
Love between all peoples you know every day I pray for it
And here stood one man who bravely said: Well, this is how well pay for it
Oh could this be the moment of our nations great re-birth
Just a skinny man in a yellow tie
Who looks a bit like Colin Firth
Could this be the leader to bring us that much-needed guidance
Just a skinny man in a yellow tie who says Sod this, who needs Tridents
Could this be the moment when we find out just what Democracy is worth
Just a skinny man in a yellow tie who looks a bit like Colin Firth
Makes up in bold ideas for what he lacks in girth
A skinny man in a yellow tie who looks a bit like Colin Firth
