So in order to do that, one has to know how to do it. Now, of course, they could take the letters themselves; on pieces of paper, and calculate it like that. But that would take very long, and also, you could probably possibly make a mistake then also!
So, we can use this as a lesson to learning Torah. In life, many special events happen every day to a person which are nice experiences and great lessons! Now, if one goes around blindly and has to figure everything out for himself through trial and error only, it will be very hard and time consuming and he may not actually come to the right conclusions anyway! However, if one has the proper tool, one can use it t o accomplish much.
Now, however, Torah learning is much more special than that! Because, not only does it teach the person how to live, but it is, as the rabbis explain, food for the soul. And, although lessons in life will also be; as G-d cares about His children and will lead them on a good path. However, many experiences can be hard like strong medicine which, at the least, can be bitter and worse can have side effects; hopefully only temporary. Likewise, even with food, inorganic and junk food; while they seem to give energy, they dont give proper energy and can even have no-good effects, such as with wheight and chemical ingredients etc. However, with healthy, organic food, one is spared much hardship. So too, the Torah is G-ds spiritual healthy-organic food. And much as health professional will say, that, after eating healthy food for a while, a person will feel different, so too, after learning and living Torah for a while, a person will feel different. This can even be understood from a physiological point of view, as today it is understood how emotions have to do with having actuall physical effects on the body. If a person is happy, the body produces certain happy hormones which go into the blood-stream and flow to the whole body giving all the meat a happy disposition; a person feels all energetic and positive. However, if a person is unhappy, the opposite holds true also Heaven should help. So, for this alone it is special to realize the effects of the Torah. However, the rabbis explain that there is an even deeper meaning to the Torah, as we were mentioning above that by learning the Torah, one actually receives the holiness of G-d in him, and it is actually like organic food for the soul and ones life. So it is even better than just organic food; for it actually teaches the person how to live. But even more than that; it gives the person the umph (for definition, type define umph in Google), the actual interest and excitement to live a Torah life. Thus when we see people energetic and interested, we may think how does he have it or maybe its just because he had a different background than me, we should know that truly each Yid can attain a great level and past experiences just become experiences to build on. A man once can to the Lubavitcher rebbe ZTZL and asked as follows. He said, I am becoming religious to which the rebbe commended him and encouraged him to continue. Then the man added, however, I have difficulty in this-and-this area. And as he spoke, helowered his head in embarrassment. He was expecting to hear a speech along the lines of you really shodulnt do that, etc. However, h heard nothing. He waited a few moments and then looked up to see the rebbe smiling! He was very surpised and waited for the rebbe to explain. What he heard astounded him. I am jealous of you, the rebbe said. And he continued. I never had particular difficulty you face, thus I will not have reward for putting in effort in that area. However, you, since you do will have tremendous reward for standing up to that particular evil inclination. The man walked out astounded. He sat sat down by a table a began to cry. In a moment someone brought over a cup of water and asked if he can do anything for him and thus we know this story!
